In recent months Big Chill has seen deliveries being consigned for business addresses that are non-food retailers, food service, food manufacturers, QSR or restaurants entering our network.
Big Chill understands that the development of this market has been a result of the COVID19 event.
Big Chill will not pick up or deliver to any residential addresses (even if it is operating as a food manufacturer).
Some shippers are asking for deliveries to business addresses for what are online sales or destined direct for the consumer (B2C).
These type of non-commercial and residential deliveries are NOT currently part of the Big Chill service offering.
For orders/consignments of this nature Big Chill recommends that a courier service be utilised.
It is important that we focus our delivery efforts on standard food delivery points as we enter the busiest period of the year. As such these type of non-commercial & residential deliveries are not permitted to enter the Big Chill network at this time.
Finally, If you have any new delivery locations that are not already setup and operating then please ensure that you communicate these directly to your sales representative where they will be reviewed and confirmed back as acceptable or not achievable.
Please note, there are limited Inter-island sailings through the Xmas and New Year weekends. We strongly recommend customers send urgent Inter-island freight as early as possible. Inter-island freight dispatched from Northland and Lower South Island on Wed the 23rd Dec and Wed the 30th Dec, will not be delivered until the following Tue.

Due to adverse weather and the closure of the Auckland Harbour Bridge this morning, we are expecting delays of 2 to 3 hours with deliveries going to all North Shore destinations today. There are likely to be delays in some pickups this afternoon in the Auckland region.
We expect to be back on to normal schedule from Wednesday the 30th September.

Due to volume changes into the Winton region Big Chill will be reducing services from five days per week to three days per week. The services will operate into Winton for delivery on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday. The service changes will be updated on the website. It is important that your teams understand the changes and that pickup requirements are adjusted to meet the new delivery days.
There will be no service on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
The changes for services to Winton will take effect from the 5th of October 2020.

With the announcement that the Government will move Auckland to Alert Level-2 at 11.59pm Wednesday 23rd September 2020, and the rest of New Zealand to Alert Level-1 from 11.59pm Monday 21st September 2020, Big Chill Distribution advises that the following changes will be made to services.
Auckland - LEVEL 2 (effective 11.59pm Wed 23rd Sept 2020) - Big Chill Response:
· Contactless pick-up and delivery processes remain as standard.
· Normal Big Chill delivery services Monday to Saturday will be supplied to all commercial delivery points that are open under Government approved rules for Level-2.
· Customer drop-offs (contactless) at Big Chill depots allowed, but only between 1000-1400hrs Mon-Fri.
· Customer pick-ups (contactless) from Big Chill depots allowed, but only between 1000-1400hrs.
· Big Chill will not commit to achieving pre-existing service levels at this time given likely volume spikes.
Rest of N.Z. - LEVEL 1 (effective 11.59pm Mon 21st Sept 2020) - Big Chill Response:
· All services revert back to normal.
· Customer pick-ups and drop-offs are only allowed between 1000-1400hrs Mon-Fri.
