Latest Update

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to severe weather in the Coromandel region overnight there have been delays to services into this region.

A slip has occurred on State Highway 25A between Kopu and Hikuai that has closed the road. There are various road closures in the region due to flooding.

The result of these weather events will mean that freight into this region is likely to be delayed with many deliveries not occurring until Monday the 20th of July.

If you have any questions regarding specific consignments please contact customer services.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Customer,

All Interisland Ferry sailings have been cancelled from the afternoon of Wednesday (1 July), through to Thursday (2 July) due to weather.

This will effect all freight dispatched on Wednesday the 1st of July, traveling from the North Island to the South Island and vice versa.

All deliveries traveling on the Interisland routes will be delayed by up to 1 day.

At this stage we expect the ferry services to resume today, however there may be further delays while they clear the back log of freight. A further update will be sent regarding any further delays if necessary on Friday the 3rd of July.

We appreciate your patience while we work through these weather disruptions. Please advise your customers accordingly.

Dear Valued Customer,

As per previous communications Big Chill has progressively reopened its Saturday delivery services.

We can now confirm that effective Saturday 13th June 2020 that ALL towns & centres previously serviced on a Saturday will recommence as normal. The only exceptions that will continue not to be serviced on a Saturday at this time are as follows:

Te Kauwahata / Tuakau / Murupara / Leeston / Lyttleton / West Milton

As always it is critical that when booking freight for a Saturday delivery that this is clearly communicated on the pickup manifest and that the consignment (Pallet/Carton/Tie) does have a “Saturday Delivery” sticker on it.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dear Valued Customer,

Previous communication advised that Big Chill would be completing Saturday deliveries to Supermarkets only. Based on the move to Alert Level 2 Big Chill will now resume deliveries to normal delivery points as previously serviced on a Saturday, not just supermarkets.

Due to a continued downturn in overall volumes we will however be maintaining restrictions on a number of areas serviced. The list below are areas that will continue to not be serviced on a Saturday at this time.

Thames / Matamata / Morrinsville / Murupara / Waiuku / Tuakau / Ngatea / Ngaruawahia / Leeston / West Milton / Lyttleton / Alexandra / Stratford / Hawera / Te Aroha / Te Awamutu / Te Kauwhata / Tirau / Otorohanga / Whakatane / Kawerau / Masterton / Pahiatua / Eltham / Wanganui / Inglewood / Huntly / Waitara / Eketahuna / Picton / Wellsford

It is critical that when booking freight for a Saturday delivery that this is clearly communicated on the pickup manifest and that the consignment (Pallet/Carton/Tie) does have a “Saturday Delivery” sticker on it.

We will continue to review the areas above and as freight volumes increase will look to resume normal Saturday services. There is likely to be a staged approach to the regions we introduce for Saturday deliveries and we will ensure that these are clearly communicated to you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe.
