Dear Valued Customer,

Further to our update on January 24th the Omicron outbreak has continued to develop, and we are all seeing the case numbers increase significantly. Based on advice from the government it is expected that this will continue, and cases will peak in the next 4-6 weeks.

Big Chill is registered with the MoH Close Contact Exemption Scheme. Amongst a number of mitigation measures, we have deployed Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) across the business to help minimise disruption.

At the same time we also continue to see stronger than normal freight volumes move across the network as customers work to maintain higher inventories. At this time our network continues to provide it’s normal level of services, however increased Omicron staff absences, combined with these strong freight volumes are resulting in delays, particularly in the Upper North Island.

As Omicron spreads across the rest of the country we expect to see similar staff absences across the entire network. We are also anticipating our key regional sub-contractors and service providers to encounter Omicron staff absences that could negatively impact services.

The anticipated increase in staff absences due to Omicron WILL continue to result in delays of freight being transported through the network, and we recommend that customers plan for this in the following manner:

• Continue to expect delays with delivery of consignments of 48-hours.

• Plan orders to be placed ahead of time.

• Communicate to your customers that deliveries will occur later in the day than normal. Normal delivery times cannot be expected at this time.

• Pickups are likely to be later than normal.

We also take this opportunity to also remind customers of our continued Covid Protocols:

• All deliveries will continue to operate as contactless.

• Saturday deliveries to Supermarkets only. Strictly enforced.

• No returns or pick-ups will be actioned.

• Customer drop-offs at Big Chill depots are suspended.

• Customer pickups from Big Chill depots are suspended.

• We would ask for no ETA queries unless a consignment is delayed by more than 24-hours.

• The POD processes will experience delays and we ask for patience in accessing and requesting POD’s.

• As we split our 3PL teams, expect up to 1-2 days delay in picking/shipping of 3PL orders.

We thank you for your support, and we know that it is important that we relay this information to you as early as possible to allow planning within your supply chain. We will provide further updates as the situation develops in the coming weeks.

Thank you.
