Latest Update

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to volume changes into the Winton region Big Chill will be reducing services from five days per week to three days per week. The services will operate into Winton for delivery on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday. The service changes will be updated on the website. It is important that your teams understand the changes and that pickup requirements are adjusted to meet the new delivery days.

There will be no service on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

The changes for services to Winton will take effect from the 5th of October 2020.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Valued Customer,

The Customer update on the 13th of August (Yesterday) notified that under level 2 and 3 that Big Chill would only deliver to Supermarkets on Saturdays.

To correct this communication:

  1. 1. Service Stations (BP, Z, Caltex, Mobil) will be made on Saturdays under level 2 and 3.
  2. 2. Food Service (including Bidfood and Service Foods) will be made on Saturdays under level 2 and 3.

It is important that all normal processes are followed including a label on the freight nominating Saturday delivery and also when booking freight in that it stipulates Saturday delivery.

Deliveries to these locations will occur on the basis that these sites are available to receipt goods and we suggest that you confirm this prior to booking freight.

Date: 12th August 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

With the announcement that the Government will move to Alert Level-3 at 12.00pm Wednesday 12th August 2020 within the Auckland region, and Alert Level-2 for all regions outside of Auckland, Big Chill Distribution advises that the following changes will be made to services.

Keeping safe and avoiding further transmission is the key focus for all New Zealand businesses at this time. The disciplines and processes Big Chill Distribution has previously implemented as an essential service will continue. This is for the safety of our customers, our staff and receivers.

We advise that the following service changes will apply from 12.00pm midday Wednesday 12th August 2020:

LEVEL 2 (all regions outside of Auckland) - Big Chill Response:

  • Contactless pick-up and delivery processes are reinstated as standard.
  • Normal Big Chill delivery services will be supplied to all commercial delivery points that are open under Government approved rules for Level-2.

  • Customer pick-ups (contactless) from Big Chill depots allowed, but only between 1000-1400hrs.
  • Big Chill will not commit to achieving pre-existing service levels at this time given likely volume spikes.

LEVEL 3 (AUCKLAND Region) - Big Chill Response:

  • Contactless pick-up and delivery processes are reinstated as standard.
  • Normal delivery services will be supplied to all delivery points that are open under Government approved rules for Level-3.
  • Saturday deliveries to Supermarkets only. Strictly enforced.

  • Customer drop-offs at Big Chill Auckland are suspended.
  • Customer pickups from Big Chill Auckland are suspended.

Thank you for your patience & understanding.

Dear Valued Customer,

As per previous communications Big Chill has progressively reopened its Saturday delivery services.

We can now confirm that effective Saturday 13th June 2020 that ALL towns & centres previously serviced on a Saturday will recommence as normal. The only exceptions that will continue not to be serviced on a Saturday at this time are as follows:

Te Kauwahata / Tuakau / Murupara / Leeston / Lyttleton / West Milton

As always it is critical that when booking freight for a Saturday delivery that this is clearly communicated on the pickup manifest and that the consignment (Pallet/Carton/Tie) does have a “Saturday Delivery” sticker on it.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dear Valued Customer,

Previous communication advised that Big Chill would be completing Saturday deliveries to Supermarkets only. Based on the move to Alert Level 2 Big Chill will now resume deliveries to normal delivery points as previously serviced on a Saturday, not just supermarkets.

Due to a continued downturn in overall volumes we will however be maintaining restrictions on a number of areas serviced. The list below are areas that will continue to not be serviced on a Saturday at this time.

Thames / Matamata / Morrinsville / Murupara / Waiuku / Tuakau / Ngatea / Ngaruawahia / Leeston / West Milton / Lyttleton / Alexandra / Stratford / Hawera / Te Aroha / Te Awamutu / Te Kauwhata / Tirau / Otorohanga / Whakatane / Kawerau / Masterton / Pahiatua / Eltham / Wanganui / Inglewood / Huntly / Waitara / Eketahuna / Picton / Wellsford

It is critical that when booking freight for a Saturday delivery that this is clearly communicated on the pickup manifest and that the consignment (Pallet/Carton/Tie) does have a “Saturday Delivery” sticker on it.

We will continue to review the areas above and as freight volumes increase will look to resume normal Saturday services. There is likely to be a staged approach to the regions we introduce for Saturday deliveries and we will ensure that these are clearly communicated to you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe.
