Dear Valued Customer,

Due to severe sea conditions on the Cook Strait this morning, all Interisland ferry services have been cancelled with immediate effect until further notice. This will cause significant delays with all Interisland freight dispatched from the North and South Island from Tuesday the 12th of October through to Thursday the 14th of October. We expect delays of at least 48 hours with deliveries from the North Island to South Island and vice versa. Sea conditions are forecasted to continue through till Thursday morning and all sailings have been cancelled up to at least that time. Once sailings recommence there will be a large back log of freight, we will work with the Interisland ferry services to move this as soon as possible.

Please advise your customers of these unavoidable delays and refrain from requesting ETA’s on Interisland freight until Friday the 15th of October. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we expect to be back on normal schedule from Monday the 18th of October.

Kind Regards,

Big Chill Distribution Ltd

Dear Valued Customer,

On the 19th of September 2021, Interisland ferry services will reduce from 5 to 3 boats operating on the Cook Strait daily. This is due to scheduled maintenance for the Aratere (Interislander) and a mechanical issue with the Kaiarahi (Interislander). The maintenance and repairs are expected to continue through to at least the 4th of October 2021. The Bluebridge ferries will operate as normal through this time.

Big Chill Distribution has secured bookings on the available sailings and will aim to minimize any disruptions caused by the reduction in capacity. As a precaution, and where possible we recommend customers move their freight a day earlier than usual. We also recommend notifying your customers of potential delays on Interisland services through this time. We expect there will be some delayed departures on the remaining ferries due to heavier loadings. Customers effected will be advised accordingly.

We thank you for your patience and understanding with these potential disruptions to service.
