Dear Customers,

Due to Tsunami warnings and Civil Defence evacuation notices initiated by the Magnitude 8 Earthquake North East of New Zealand this morning there will be delays with deliveries to the following areas;

Northland - Ruakaka, Waipu, Kaiwaka, Wellsford, Warkworth, Matakana

Bay of Plenty – Whakatane, Ohope, Opotiki

At this stage we expect these deliveries to be delayed by 1 day (24 hours). If there are any further delays we will advise during the day.

Please advise your customers accordingly, we thank you for your patience with this unexpected delay.

Easter Weekend – Friday 2^nd April to Monday 5^th April

Thursday 1^st April

• All pick-ups and deliveries as normal across the network.
• Linehaul units operate as normal.

Friday 2^nd April (Good Friday)

• NO deliveries, line haul or collections nationwide.

Saturday 3^rd April

• Deliveries to ALL centres (inc Gisborne, Wairarapa) nationwide. Normal Friday schedule applies.
• Inter-island Line Haul service only operates.

Sunday 4^th April

• NO deliveries, line haul or collections nationwide.

Monday 5^th April (Easter Monday)

• NO deliveries nationwide.
• Linehaul units operate as normal.
• Pre-arranged collections only.

Tuesday 6^th April

• All pick-ups and deliveries as normal across the network.
• Linehaul units operate as normal.

ALL pick-ups must be arranged by phone or email no later than a week before the respective Holiday. Please note we are only able to do pick-ups in specific areas on the public holidays, contact your local depot manager for further clarification on this. DO NOT assume regular pick-ups will happen automatically.

Due to delays in Ferry Sailings between Wellington and Picton yesterday and last night there will be delays in freight being delivered to all destinations across the next few days. In addition to the Ferry delays there were road closures on the Napier-Taupo road last night that will result in delayed deliveries across the North Island.

The delays could result in your freight being delivered 24 hours later than expected.

Please contact customer services if you have specific questions on consignments.

Dear Valued Customer,

In recent months Big Chill has seen deliveries being consigned for business addresses that are non-food retailers, food service, food manufacturers, QSR or restaurants entering our network.

Big Chill understands that the development of this market has been a result of the COVID19 event.

Big Chill will not pick up or deliver to any residential addresses (even if it is operating as a food manufacturer).

Some shippers are asking for deliveries to business addresses for what are online sales or destined direct for the consumer (B2C).

These type of non-commercial and residential deliveries are NOT currently part of the Big Chill service offering.

For orders/consignments of this nature Big Chill recommends that a courier service be utilised.

It is important that we focus our delivery efforts on standard food delivery points as we enter the busiest period of the year. As such these type of non-commercial & residential deliveries are not permitted to enter the Big Chill network at this time.

Finally, If you have any new delivery locations that are not already setup and operating then please ensure that you communicate these directly to your sales representative where they will be reviewed and confirmed back as acceptable or not achievable.
