Auckland/Putaruru to Hawkes Bay - Hawkes Bay to Putaruru/Auckland Cancellation
- Details
- Thursday, 13 July 2017 16:59
Dear Customer
Due to road closures caused by the adverse weather conditions over S.H 5 Napier – (Taupo Highway) we have had to cancel the service between Auckland and Hawkes Bay and the service between Putaruru and Hakes Bay. This will effect freight from Auckland and Putaruru going to Napier, Hastings, Waipukurau and Gisborne and vice versa. Please advise your customers.
At this stage services to all other main centres in the North Island will continue to run, however we expect delays as S.H 1 Desert Road and S.H 46,47,49 and S.H 4 around National Park and the Central North Island are closed causing our truck to divert around S.H 3 Taranaki.
Interisland freight remains on standby as the Ferry Crossings are not scheduled to start again until tomorrow (Friday).
Again we appreciate your patience as we work through these uncontrollable disruptions.

- Details
- Wednesday, 12 July 2017 09:40
Dear Customer,
There has been a number of road closures throughout the night which has created delays both in the North Island and the South Island.
The Desert Road S.H 1 North Island was closed due to an accident which has resulted in delays in the freight between Auckland and Wellington by two to three hours. SH 7 Hamner Turnoff To Springs Junction ( Lewis Pass ) was closed due to snow last night and will delay freight between the North Island and South Island by one day as well as the cancellations of ferry sailing from this afternoon until Friday morning which will delay our service by a further two to three days.
A number of road closures in the Lower South Island due to snow will delay the majority of deliveries by one day for freight between Christchurch and the Lower South Island and vice versa.
The forecast is for more poor weather moving across the country and we will update any changes later today.

Interisland Disruptions

- Tuesday, 11 July 2017 13:32
Dear Customer,
Due to severe weather conditions and heavy swells forecasted on the Cook Strait from tomorrow (Wednesday 12/07/17), Inter Islander has cancelled all ferry sailings from tomorrow evening (12/07/17) though to Friday (14/07/17).
This will affect customers who are shipping freight tomorrow, Thursday and Friday from the North Island to the South Island or vice versa.
All Interisland freight deliveries will be delayed by 2-3 days and we expect the back log from these cancellations will cause further delays through until Monday morning (17/07/16).
Please advise your customers as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.
We appreciate your patience during these unavoidable delays.

Weather Disruptions 11-15th July 2017
- Details
- Tuesday, 11 July 2017 08:54
Dear Customer,
As you will be aware from recent media coverage we are expecting adverse weather conditions to hit NZ across the next 24 hours which will likely carry on throughout the week. This weather could include snow to low levels, high winds and heavy seas in the Cook Strait.
The result of these adverse conditions could include Interisland Ferry cancellations and road closures. One road of serious concern would be the Lewis Pass and Arthurs Pass (SH1 alternate routes) between Picton and Christchurch. If these roads close we will be unable to transit any freight between the North Island, Marlborough / Nelson and Christchurch, or vice versa until the roads re open.
Any ferry cancellations or road closures may also cause ongoing delays across the rest of this week as we clear the back log of freight that may be created.
We strongly recommend that you advise your customers as soon as possible of these potential delays, and we will update you as soon as any delays are confirmed.
