Road Closure Delays 13 June 2018

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to adverse weather conditions, SH1 – Picton to Christchurch via Kaikoura  is currently closed. The next NZTA update on this road closure is expected at 12pm on Thursday the 14th of June.

This will cause significant delays with all Interisland freight transiting this route. We expect delays of 1 to 2 days with all Interisland deliveries dispatched yesterday and today. We also expect delays of 1 day with deliveries transiting between Christchurch and the Blenheim / Nelson region.

With the back log of freight this will create, we expect the delays to continue through to the end of this week. Please advise your customers accordingly and refrain from requesting ETAs.

We apologise for the Inconvenience this will cause.

A further update will be sent tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 14 June).

Kind Regards,

Interisland cancellations / Delays 10th April 2018

Dear Customer,

Due to adverse Weather conditions and heavy swells in the Cook Strait, all Interisland Ferry sailings have been cancelled from this afternoon until further notice. This will cause significant delays with all freight dispatched from the North Island to the South Island and vice versa from late Monday the 9th and throughout Tuesday the 10th of April.

There will be delays of at least 1 day with all deliveries on these routes. At this stage the Ferry services are expecting to commence again from around midday on Wednesday the 11th of April however there will be a large back log of freight that will take some time to clear. Please also note that with equipment and drivers currently stranded at the Ferry terminals there may be some delays with Interisland freight collections across Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th of April. Our dispatch teams will advise customers effected directly regarding these collections. We strongly advise customers to refrain from dispatching any non-urgent Interisland freight until the Ferries are fully operational and the back log has been cleared.

We expect the cancellations will have a flow on effect with delays for the rest of this week, however we will do our best to get all freight delivered as soon as possible.

We apologise for these unavoidable delays and we appreciate your patience. Please notify your customers accordingly.

Further updates will be provided on Wednesday the 11th of April.

Kind Regards,

Big Chill Distribution
