Business Development Manager - Christchurch

We are a rapidly growing NZ owned transport and distribution company seeking a high performing Business Development Manager. Our business is built on strong relationships with customers, partners and staff. Basically, we are going places and invite a strong and passionate sales individual to join our team!

Reporting into the Auckland based GM for Business Development this is a standalone / autonomous role looking after our South Island based customers. There is a small amount of travel to visit these customers, approximately 4 days every 3 or 4 weeks and occasionally to the North Island. A vehicle will be provided as part of your package.

Key Objectives:

  • Obtain more business to ensure our fleet of vehicles are running at maximum levels all year round.
  • Contribute to future sales to and from this region by establishing leads and referrals.
  • Maintain a good/profitable working relationship with existing clients.
  • Maintain Big Chills professional image at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Business Development for the South Island territory.
  • Build and grow client relationships.
  • Explore new leads to see if they are a fit with our business.
  • Look for new business in areas where we have capacity available on a regular basis.
  • Maintain contact with customers on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with the GM Business Development on new contracts and proposals when required.
  • Present regular sales reports and ensure sales data and figures are recorded correctly.

The right person needs to be proactive and have a positive attitude, who has a strong business development / sales background. Previous freight/logistics experience a definite advantage. If you consider yourself a self-starter with a high level of drive and can work autonomously, then we would love to hear from you!

The successful candidate will be expected to pass a drug test.
